X.  Probation and Notice

A. Definition of Probation and Notice.

1. Disciplinary Probation. A written reprimand for violation of specified regulations. Probation is for a designated period of time and includes the probability of more severe sanctions if the student or student organization is found to be violating any institutional regulation(s) during the probationary period. CRR 200.020

2. Academic Notice. Academic notice is covered by the rules regarding unsatisfactory work in this manual (see Section IX.A, Average Grade Requirements).

If a student is on academic notice, he/she may not hold office in any student organization. He/she is not required to resign from organizations in which he/she is already a member, but he/she may not pledge, be initiated into or join any other organization. Appeals related to that part of the regulations concerning holding an office in student organizations may be initiated in the Student Involvement Office.

Failure to submit the completed appeal form within 10 school days following notification of the notice status by the Student Involvement Office will result in automatic denial of the appeal.

B. Penalty for Failure to Comply with Terms of Probation or Notice.

1. Disciplinary Probation. If student fails to comply with the terms of a discplinary probation, he/she is liable to suspension or explusion.

2. Academic Notice. If a student fails to meet the requirements of an academic notice, he/she will be dropped from the university. He/she shall be reported to the provost who shall decide whether or not the student may be readmitted, and if so, under what conditions.
