New for Fall 2019
Starting Fall 2019 semester, students will now be able to add and drop courses in Joe’SS.
Students will be able to add courses in Joe’SS for the first two weeks of the semester. In order to add a class after the semester starts, the student will need a permission number. Many of you are already familiar with the permission number process as they are also used for prerequisites. The add process will be similar in that you will need to get a permission number from the instructor of the course you wish to add. Once you have the permission number, and you are enrolling within the first two weeks of the semester, you should be able to successfully enroll online. In the event you have a time conflict, exceed permissible hours or are a first-time new undergraduate student, you will need to add your course with a paper add/drop form.
In addition, students will no longer need signature approval to drop a course. Students are expected to discuss intentions of dropping a course with their advisor prior to dropping to ensure that the course isn’t going to impact your time-to-degree or be used a prerequisite for an upcoming course. Students will be able to drop courses through Joe’SS within the published deadlines. Each night a notification will be sent to the instructor of the courses and the student’s advisor notifying them of the drop. Students dropping a course that is a co-requisite for another will not be able to drop within Joe’SS unless you are dropping both courses. If you are only dropping one part, please process the drop on a paper add/drop form.
This new process should aid in the ease of add/drop during the first two weeks of the semester especially making it easier for students to drop a course during the first week in which there is a 100% refund of fees. All students are encouraged to make all changes to their schedule during that first two weeks to take advantage of the new refund policy. Please note that a section change is considered a drop and an add so please be sure to make any section changes during the first week.
